Fall At The Indianapolis Art Center

One of the best parts of the Art Center being located in the beautiful city of Indianapolis, is that we get to experience all the seasons. ArtsPark is especially beautiful with the trees and sculptures changing, showing us there are so many different ways to experience art we think we already know. There is always something new to look at and learn about. 

So, as we take our sweaters out of the attic, we feel inspired with the new colors in our environment. The cooler sunlight, the opening of the sky through the changing leaves and violet gray shadows. 

With this new palette on our minds, we present you with some of the special classes and events we are looking forward to during Fall Season at the Indianapolis Art Center:

October 13 – Faculty Show Opening 
This Annual Exhibition Series presents the work of our diverse and dedicated team of teachers, the accomplishments of our 79th Annual Student Show “Best Of” winners, and celebrates our 2017 Skip McKinney Faculty of the Year Fellow. 

October 14 – Clay Jack-O-Lantern Pop-Up 
Finally, a Jack-o-lantern the squirrels won't eat! Re-imagine the fall tradition and carve this year's pumpkin with clay, for more durable results. 

October 14 – Lil' Pop: Spooky Splatter! 
Get into the Halloween spirit! Cut out a spooky stencil, then splash, splatter and squirt paint onto paper to create eerie Halloween designs! Cost includes registration for one child and one adult. 

October 20 – Glass Pumpkins Pop-Up 
Try your hand at an exciting art form in a quick, easy and festive way! Learn to work in our glassblowing studio as you make a one-of-a-kind glass pumpkin. Just in time for Fall festivities! 

October 21 – Youth Pop: Silkscreen Trick-or-Treat Tote 
Be a designer and make your own trick-or-treat tote! Learn about coating and burning silkscreens to print onto fabric. You will be the coolest trick-or-treater on the block this Halloween! 

October 27 – Day of the Dead Printmaking Pop-Up 
Celebrate Dia de los Muertos by learning about the influence of printmaking in the aesthetics of the Mexican holiday and the basics of relief printing to carve and print an original design! 

October 28 – Woven Wall Hanging Pop-Up 
Intertwine your ideas and creativity by discovering the ancient art of weaving! In this class you will learn the basics and explore different techniques to create your own wall hanging piece. 

October 28 – Youth Pop: Day of the Dead Painting 
Celebrate Day of the Dead and learn the history behind the Mexican holiday. Create a unique painting and pay homage to your loved ones by exploring symbols and different interpretations to this ancient tradition. 

October 29  Glass Pumpkin Pop-Up 
Try your hand at an exciting art form in a quick, easy and festive way! Learn to work in our glassblowing studio as you make a one-of-a-kind glass pumpkin. Just in time for Fall festivities! 

November 4 – Veterans Art Day 
Veterans and members of the Armed Forces who are active or retired, from any branch, of any rank and age are all welcome to participate in FREE art workshops led by our instructors and veteran artists. The Art Center will offer free glassblowing, painting, ceramics, welding, jewelry-making and photography activities to honor veterans and connect them to the healing and fun power of doing hands-on art. 

November 17 – Potato Prints Pop-Up
Potatoes are more than a side dish in this class. Learn how to carve America's favorite vegetable to create one-of-a-kind Thanksgiving prints!
