About the Artist:
Medium:
Ink, watercolor
Describe your work:
Each painting begins as a pencil drawing that is transferred to watercolor paper; I then add shading and definition via stippling with a waterproof ink pen. Watercolor washes are applied next, and this overall technique gives my work a look similar to that of hand-colored etchings.
My subject matter is often inspired by nature and might include decorative designs from different art movements or cultures.
Education; Training:
I have a B.A. in Studio Art from Knox College in Galesburg, Illinois. I've also taken many different classes at the Indianapolis Art Center.
When did you begin to consider yourself as an artist?
I have always considered myself an artist. I have vivid memories of creating art at a very young age, and deciding then that that was what I wanted to be when I grew up. As an adult, the trick has been learning the best ways to share my work and promote it to a wide audience.
Name one or two of your influences (artists or otherwise): My biggest artistic influences have been children's illustrators, the earliest being Louis Darling, who illustrated many Beverly Cleary books. Trina Schart Hyman's artwork is always dynamic and beautifully drawn. Another favorite illustrator is the somewhat obscure Jessie M. King, who worked at the turn of the century.
What is the Price Range for your works?
My originals range in price from $75.00 - $500.00. I also sell giclees for $15.00 - $75.00.
Are you represented by any Galleries or in any Collections?
My work is currently for sale in the Basile Gallery Shop at the Indianapolis Art Center and at the Indiana State Museum Store. It's also available through my website, www.carriewild.com. My work is in the collections of Eli Lilly & Company and Huntington College.
Have you won any awards?

Indiana Artist Project Grant, Indiana Arts Commission, 2003.
