ArtTroop: Connecting veterans through art.

ArtTroop is a free 10-month program designed to empower military veterans and active service members through creativity and self-expression. Participants of the program attend bi-weekly art classes at the Indy Art Center from February through November of each year. Each class is a three-hour block of exploration and reflection.

Throughout the year, students build upon their existing artistic skills and learn new techniques in a variety of art media. ArtTroop creates a positive and stress-free atmosphere to help students build artistic confidence, discover new passions, and develop a creative community with fellow members of the Armed Forces.

The program culminates with a professional exhibition that is on display during our annual Veterans Art Day. Interested individuals can apply to the ArtTroop program during active registration periods.

ArtTroop is presented by Jim and Pat LaCrosse.

ArtTroop aims to cultivate a safe, inclusive, and supportive space. That said, while this program is therapeutic in nature, it is not a therapy service. Our instructors are not licensed therapists, but rather professional teaching artists who come with years of studio experience and a commitment to compassion, empathy, and respect.
