Hand Building At Home - ONLINE

 

Use the oldest tools known to humans - your hands - to create vessels, art objects and sculptures! Get handy with the timeless techniques - pinching, coiling and slab building - and enjoy time creating with clay! The Indianapolis Art Center is excited to fire and glaze your work! Your instructor will work with you to coordinate firing your work, all of which will be done with limited person-to-person contact. You will receive an email prior to the start of your class with Zoom details and a guide to support your virtual learning experience.

Handbuild your own planter in just 4 weeks! Working with two skilled artists from the Indianapolis Art Center’s Clay and Fibers departments, students will learn the art of macramé while creating beautiful hanging planters.

You’ve printed on paper, now learn the basics of screen printing on a new medium ? clay! In this 4-week class, students will experiment with alternative glazing and surface design techniques. No previous clay experience required.

Wood Firing in the Great Outdoors

 

The Art Center is home to Indianapolis’ only public wood-fired kiln, and now you can learn how to use it! Students will make work, load, and fire the kiln over a 24-hour period. The class will culminate with a kiln opening and celebration of all the amazing art made in the class!
