GET EXTRA CREATIVE!

Ceramics Make It Take It: Horse Hair Raku - SOLD OUT!

$40.00 – Noon-1:00 PM SOLD OUT!

Horse hair raku is a pottery decorating technique. The process involves removing hot wares from a kiln before they have had time to cool and quickly adding carbon-rich materials to the surface to create smoke patterns and carbon trails on the hot surface. Horsehair and feathers are the most common carbon-rich materials used for this firing technique.

Students will be able to decorate their own pre-made vessel with horse hair and feathers to create their own one-of-a-kind piece of art. Our instructors will each create a vessel for this MITI that students will be able to fire, decorate, and take home that day.
