Sewing 2

 

Do you love beautiful fabrics and want to advance your knowledge in pattern design, stitches and sewing techniques? This class builds on what you learned in Sewing 1, offering more fun class projects and individualized instruction.

Macrame + Clay

 

Handbuild your own planter in just 4 weeks! Working with two skilled artists from the Indianapolis Art Center’s Clay and Fibers departments, students will learn the art of macramé while creating beautiful hanging planters.

Woven Paintings

 

Channel your inner Monet or Picasso as you create a gorgeous woven painting in fiber. You will begin by selecting a favorite painting then use that as inspiration for your own woven tapestry.

Students will learn about fabric structure, various fiber characteristics, weaving patterns, the workings of the loom, and all the tools and terminology that go with the weaving process. Throughout the class, students will also learn about the various patterns developed throughout history and how weaving fits into different regions and cultures around the world.

Flowers and cacti and vegetables ? oh my! Join a wizard of felting and create your own fantastical, botanical Oz! You will use dry and wet felting techniques to create your mythical creations.

Art Retreat: Sewing + Natural Dyes

 

Combine dyeing and sewing to create one-of-a-kind fabrics and garments! Class will begin with experimentation with natural dyes and a variety of Shibori dyeing techniques before culminating in the design and construction of a simple Kimono Style jacket.
