Types of Volunteer Opportunities

 

  • Class and Studio Opportunities: recurring role in any on or off-site programs
    • Requires application approval and orientation
  • Event & Exhibitions: one-off opportunities for fundraising events, education events, etc.
    • Requires registration through VolunteerHub and liability waiver
  • Gardening in the ArtsPark: select dates by season for maintaining the grounds of the IAC
    • Requires registration through VolunteerHub and liability waiver
  • Group & Corporate: one-time specially scheduled opportunities for friends, families, and work groups
    • Requires reservation with Volunteer Coordinator and liability waivers for all participants

CLASS AND STUDIO OPPORTUNITIES

(Vary throughout fall, spring, and summer semesters)

 

The Indianapolis Art Center has the following studios: Ceramics, Digital Arts, Drawing, Glass, Jewelry/Metalsmithing, Painting, Photography, Printmaking, Sculpture, Textile Arts, Woodworking

 

Open Studio Monitor:

Welcoming, knowledgeable and experienced volunteers help host our open studios. While these individuals are not expected to teach students new skills, they are present to ensure all individuals are working safely and according to the studio rules.

 

Class Monitor/Assistant:

Welcoming, knowledgeable and experienced volunteers help the teacher in facilitating the classroom experience. While these individuals are not expected to teach students new skills, they are present to ensure support at the teacher’s request.

 

EVENTS & EXHIBITIONS

(Vary throughout the year)

 

IAC Ambassador:

Represent the Art Center during our exhibition openings and events. Provide directions and information to guest, assist staff with sales of artwork. Assist staff as needed with tasks during events.

 

Event Set-up:

Help set up tables, chairs, equipment for event functions. Assist staff with tasks as needed to prepare for events. Lifting, bending, stooping and active movement required.

 

ONEAMERICA BROAD RIPPLE ART FAIR

May 18 & 19, 2020

 

OneAmerica Broad Ripple Art Fair could not happen without the help of all of our wonderful volunteers! Thank you for being part of Indy’s #1 art fair and for helping us transform our grounds into the party that kicks off festival season. We want to make your experience as great as possible.

GARDENING IN THE ARTSPARK

(Seasonal, Select Dates, May-October)

 

  • About volunteering in our ArtsPark: This is an outdoors position working in a variety of weather conditions, please check local weather to dress and prepare accordingly. Dates listed are rain or shine. Depending on the time of season, you may be helping plant flowers, pulling weeds, picking up litter, etc.
  • Where: The grounds of the Indianapolis Art Center, ArtsPark– a 9.5-acre public garden open to our community featuring a diverse plant life, unique art sculptures and art installations.
